Spring '05 Special Deal for Students

(Who Want to Improve Their MATH171 Grade)

If you log in 10 hours at the Academic Support Center during the remainder of the semester (i.e. before exams start) then you will have 5 points added to your lowest test score.  Note:  These 10 hours must be spread out over the next 4 weeks (i.e. last minute cramming cannot be your strategy.).

An Example of how this will work:  Suppose a student has test scores of 65, 55, 67 and the student logs in the required amount of time at the academic support center.  Because of this studying, the student pulls a 75 on the final!  First,  the lowest test score of 55 is replaced by the final (all students get this deal) so now the student has test scores of 65, 75, and 67.  Next, because the student has logged in the required time at the academic support center, the Special Deal is applied to the lowest test score (the 65) so that the student now has test scores of 70, 75, and 67.  Thus the student has raised their test average from a 62.33 (a D) to a 70.67 (a C).
