(Who Want to Improve Their MATH171 Grade)

Deal 1:  If you log in 3 hours per week at the Academic Support Center for the next 4 weeks (i.e. a total of 12 hours) then you will have 6 points added to your lowest test score.  Note:  These 12 hours must be spread out over the next 4 weeks (i.e. last minute cramming cannot be your strategy.).

Deal 2:  If your Final Exam score is higher than your lowest test score, then I will replace your lowest test score with your final exam score.  Remember, the Final Exam is comprehensive and thus typically harder than the individual tests. 

Deal 1 will be applied before Deal 2.   

Example 1:  Student has test scores of 85, 55, 70.  The student logs in the required time at the academic support center so the 55 is replaced by a 61.  Now if the student's Final Exam is higher than 61 (which hopefully it will be!) then the Final Exam score will replace the 61.

Example 2:  Student has test scores of 92, 88, 91.  The student logs in the required time at the academic support center so the 88 is replaced by a 94.  Now if the student's Final Exam grade is higher than 91 then the Final Exam score will replace the 91.

Example 3:  Student has test scores of 85, 55, 54.  The student does NOT log in the required time at the academic support center.  The student makes a 56 on their Final Exam.  Thus the 54 is replaced by a 56.  Note that IF the student had logged the required time into the academic support center, the 54 would become a 60, and then the 55 would be replaced by the Final Exam score of 56.  However, I believe that if the student logs in the time at the academic support center then they should get a final exam score higher than 56.
