How to Become a MD/DC/VA Section NExT Fellow

All non-tenured faculty in their first five years of full-time teaching are eligible to apply!  Faculty at 2-year and 4-year colleges are particularly welcome.  The Section NExT program covers two academic years with two MAA section meetings each year.  We are now recruiting the 2009 fellows.  Their program will commence with the Fall 2007 Sectional MAA meeting and end with the Spring 2009 meeting.  At each meeting, there are several Section NExT sessions, mostly organized to allow fellows to participate in the regular MAA Section meeting as well.   They are also partnered with mentors who are more experienced colleagues from similar institutions.  For Section NExT fellows, the meeting begins in the mid-afternoon on Friday, usually with the meeting workshop, and ends with the regular MAA meeting on Saturday afternoon.  For each meeting, the cost of the meeting registration, the Friday night banquet, Saturday lunch, and the NExT sessions is covered by the Section and national NExT programs.  The cost for the Section NExT fellow's department is at most one hotel night and transportation costs for each meeting, and of course allowing the Section NExT fellow to arrive in time for the Friday afternoon program.

To apply, fill out the application form (PDF version) (Word version), including a current one-page c.v., a personal statement, and a letter from your department chair or dean indicating their support of your participation in this project, and send one copy to:
