Virtual
Laboratories in Probability and Statistics. |
The goal of this project
is to provide interactive, web-based resources for students
and teachers of probability and statistics. Dr.
Kyle Siegrist, at the University
of Alabama in Huntsville, has created this great site! |
Minitab |
You can download a
student version of Minitab here. You can also
"rent" Minitab for a semester. |
Minitab Instructions |
These Minitab Instructions were written
by Dr. Hans
Engler for introductory statistics courses at Georgetown
University. They are written for Minitab 14. |
Statistical
Inference on the TI-82/83/86/89/92+ |
This page shows how to use the TI-82, 83,
83+, 86, or 89 calculators to do typical statistical
computations including computing descriptive statistics,
confidence intervals, and p-values. The site also
contains
programs suited for the TI-series calculators.
These materials were developed by Dr.
David K. Neal, Department of Mathematics, Western Kentucky
University, Bowling Green, KY 42101 USA: david.neal@wku.edu. |
Info on the AP Statistics Exam |
Here you can download a pdf file that
contains the complete course description for the AP Statistics
Exam. |
Tools
for Teaching and Assessing Statistical Inference |
Created by Joan
Garfield, Bob
delMas, and Beth
Chance, this website is the result of project
funded by the NSF (Grant No.DUE-9752523 ) to develop and
disseminate materials that help students learn core concepts
underlying statistical inference. They have created
instructional modules that use simulation software to help
students understand abstract concepts such as sampling
distribution, confidence interval, p-values, and power. |
NCTM
Website |
Here you can find information on the NCTM
Standards for Probability and Statistics. For your
convenience, we have compiled a summary of the NCTM
Standards related to probability and statistics. |
Cool
Java applets |
These are on Dr. Beth
Chance's website at California Polytechnic State University.
Dr. Chance is
a leader in the statistics education reform movement.
Check out the site http://www.rossmanchance.com/
for more information on her work with Dr. Alan Rossman (also
of California Polytechnic State University). |
Random Digits Sample Page |
A sample page from the table of random digits. |
Robin Locke's Website |
This site has many great links for
teaching statistics including data sources, JAVA applets, and
other instructor resources. Robin Locke is a statistician
and faculty member in the
Mathematics Department at
St. Lawrence University.

The Gallup
Organization Website |
Yep, this is the site of the organization
that conducts the "Gallup Polls" you hear about so
often in the news. Check it out! |
The
Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. |
An independent opinion
research group, sponsored by The Pew Charitable Trusts, that
studies public attitudes toward the press, politics and public
policy issues. This site features poll analysis, reports
available online, and a data archive where one can download
Pew Research Center's datasets. |

Information on Actuaries
(i.e. what is an actuary and what do they do?) can be found on
these sites. |
