Gardening:
- Took the Master Gardener Class through
the Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE),
Spring 2006.
Currently a VCE Master Gardener Volunteer
as of 7/19/2007. I completed 50 hours of
community service by May 2007 to become a Master Gardener. Each year I
must complete at least 20 hours of community service to maintain my status
as an active Master Gardener. I am a
member of the Heart of Virginia Master
Gardeners.

Working on getting my
yard into shape. To the right is a picture of me in part of my garden
in the summer of 2005.
We planted the crepe myrtle that summer. I had very good luck with my
basil that year (in the foreground) and you can also see some
tomatoes (to the right) and flowers.
- Combining my Master Gardener work with my Waterworks
Theater Board duties, I am starting to work on a
landscape project for the
Waterworks Players Community Theater.

Music:
-
Actually I'm
not a musician, but a big fan of music. Some of my favorite bands
include ones in which my husband,
Marcus Pendergrass,
plays!
-
I'm embarking
on a project with some of my colleagues to analyze mathematically some of
the great moments from rock and roll using Fourier analysis and other
techniques! Stay tuned, who knows what we may discover!
Travel: I
like to travel when I get the chance. Here are some interesting places
(outside of the United States) I have been:
-
Toronto,
including Niagra Falls, Canada, Summer 1998 (following the Mathfest in
Toronto)
-
British
Columbia, Canada (Victoria and Tofino), Summer, 2001
-
Istanbul,
Turkey, Christmas, 2001 (to visit Marcus' brother Daniel)
-
Beijing,
Nanjing, and Shanghai, China, December, 2005 (as part of the People to
People Ambassador Program's
Women in
Mathematics Delegation).
