Study Abroad in Greece! Summer 2009

Spend 12 days in Greece, including a 3 day island cruise!  Choose one of the following exciting mathematics courses:

MATH 395 - Greek Mathematics*

Professor:  Dr. Sharon Emerson-Stonnell

Learn about mathematics history and simultaneously visit the locations where it occurred!

*Students wishing to study abroad should enroll in MATH 395 during the Spring 2009 semester.  Course runs Jan. 12 through June 1 and includes the 12 days in Greece.

*Counts towards mathematics major and minor

*Mathematics majors are exempted from Goal 9 and MATH245.

*Enrollment limited to 12 students.

MATH 131 - Mathematical Thinking*

Professor:  Dr. M. Leigh Lunsford

Learn about and experience how mathematical thinking in the ancient world influenced art, architecture, and philosophy.

*Meets General Education Goal 5 and waives Goal 9. Honors Enhancement available.  Course runs May 5 through June 1.  Includes four course meetings during the Spring 2009 semester, one-week of on-line work prior to departure date, and a possible assignment to be completed upon return.

*Enrollment limited to 12 students.

Itinerary Includes:  Athens, Dephi, Olympia, Epidaurus, Mycenae, Mykynos, Kusadasi, and Rhodes.  For more information click here.....
Expenses:  $3200 includes air fare from Richmond, all hotels, all entrance fees, daily breakfast, 4 lunches, and 7 dinners.    
First deposit of $550.00 due by Friday, September 19, 2008 of which $250.00 is non-refundable.
